COVID Closure and Reopening of Tacoma Art Museum

March 13, 2020, saw the closure of the Tacoma Art Museum due to the mandate from the state government. With only a day to prepare, I developed a series of crisis communications plans which included immediate media relations. In addition, I established talking points for internal and external audiences about the museum's goals of safety for staff and visitors and the intention to rapidly move mission-centered programming online.

On October 9, the Museum reopened. Through extensive media outreach, the reopening was covered by all local broadcast TV stations, as well as in many print and digital outlets.

Musuem of Glass

Beginning in 2013, the Museum of Glass began a program teaching glassblowing to soldiers from the Warrior Transition Batallion at Joint Base Lewis McChord.

I led the efforts in developing the name for the program and the press conference announcing the program. As a primary liaison with JBLM's communications staff, I worked to promote the program and its incredible staff and participants locally, regionally, and nationally.

Additionally, I planned and managed the subsequent exhibition opening featuring art made during these classes in the fall of 2015. This program received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and is a model for the Creative Forces initiative of the Department of Defense.

Initial Media Outreach resulted in
